NEW TO ARCANE SOULS?
Arcane Souls is a single-player Role Playing Game with a turn based combat system. Player is trying to gain experience through combat, get new weapons and armor or create his own spells and choose his own path how to progress the game.
Basic information about the game: Your goal is to defeat an ancient demon lord. The game currently contains 5 boss monsters that challenge your skills and abilities. You can tell a boss monster from a normal monster based on the greater size and more health points.

Controls
Movement:
- W = Up
- S = Down
- A = Left
- D = Right
Actions:
- E = Interaction (Pick up item or open Spell creation while in Mana Pool)
- Spacebar = Start combat
- I = Inventory
- TAB = Character/equip/Spell loadout menu
- M = Map
Rules
- Players can have a maximum of 20 spells in their spell loadout at once, spell such as WAIT and ESCAPE do not count towards that cap
- Players can have up to a maximum of 8 items in their inventory
- To create a new spell player has to choose a minimum of 2 elements
Main page
This is the main menu of Arcane Souls, you can start a new game from here, change settings, or look-up the in-game help.
Quick note: Right now there are no saves the continue button only allows you to continue the current session!
Game screen
This is the screen you see when you start a new game. In the upper part you see the dialog window. In the right bottom corner you see a little menu with 3 sections (character, map, spell creation). You can also access these with different Keys
On this screenshot you see the quick inventory. This inventory is for dropping items you don’t need.
Combat
To start a combat player has to move close to a monster and press SPACEBAR. At this points it is up to the player to choose which combination of spells is he going to use to takedown the monster. But be aware in a single combat you can use a maximum of 3 ultimate abilities.
Spell basics
Spells come in 6 categories:
- Offense – offensive spells
- Defense – defensive spells
- Special – attack spells that cannot be created, must be received as a reward
- Healing – healing spells
- Enhance – buffs a player in a specific way for another round
- Utility – Spells with predetermined effects (Wait and Escape)
- If a spell is ultimate it can have a special effect
- Ultimate skills are created using ultimate effects
- Spells with a tag „repeating“ are used also in the next round without you having to cast them again
SPELL CREATION
- In the game players can create their own combinations of spells, using variety of available elements
- To open spell creation menu, players need to be inside a mana pool location which is located deeper in the cave
- To open the spell creation player presses E
- Players have to choose a minimum of 2 elements to combine into a new spell
- Most of 2 element combinations have a predetermined spell outcome
